Federalism is "... a federal system of government, a system that divided powers between the states and the federal government." (US History Textbook 144). Founders wanted a strong federal government, but also wanted it to be a local government. The government got some more power, and the states would deal with local problems.
The 3 Powers
Concurrent power Concurrent power is shared between federal and state governments.
Reserved Powers Reserved Powers are kept by the states.
Delegated powers Delagated powers are certain powers to the national governments
